Procrastinator? Perhaps. Comment snob? Never!
Nothing like beating a dead horse here, but just wanted to let you know that I appreciate the comments left on Monday's post and will reply to them all, probably today. No, I doubt anyone is waiting breathlessly for this event. But I have to admit yet again that bloggers who never answer anyone's comments turn me off so much that I often never visit them again. Unless you're Boing Boing or another very heaviy visited blog, I feel insulted when bloggers assume that people's comments don't deserve to be acknoweged in some way, shape, or form--even if it's just a generic thank you or responding to a few comments just to let readers know you're alive. Comment whore, comment nazi--call me what you will. Just don't put me on your shit list!

Please don't put me ON your shit list. (smiling) I am THE WORST Procrastinator in the world. I try my best on reponding but sometimes I just can't do it....energy level is zero.
You take care...now, okay? (smiling) Hope you will come back...always love hearing from you.
If you're having problems with Blogger -- or have concerns -- just leave. I use Wordpress and it is very easy to install. I can help you.
Heh, I do my best to answer to each and every comment left on my blog, but sometimes it takes me 2-3 days to answer(although I get them as e-mails, too, and thus read everything)... and the more time I take, the most likely I am to forget one along the road :(
But yeah, leaving comments and having the blogger never answer just because they don't care, does turn me off as well after a short while.
I agree ! You have permission to slap my wrists should I ever forget to respond to any of your comments...
I'm such a terrible replyer to comments. I want to acknowledge them all, but I'm a terrible person.
Of course, I could just be angling for a spanking, so what the hell do I know?
Will you be giving a spanking to Dan?
hmmmm... I don't think I am a comment snob... I hope not!
But I must admit it's nice to be acknowledged.
Oh, and if you DO give Dan a spanking, NYM and I wanna watch!
;)
Can I just call you Elvira?
I agree... i've been to blogs who only get a few comments and still don't respond. it's weird! i always respond. it might take a day or two, but I always respond to all comments.
Suzie:
I would NEVER put you on my shit list! I too am on an endless merry-go-round--I finally catch up with responses to comments, but then I've fallen behind on visiting my blogpals like you. Then of course I need time to actually post now and then...lol. But I'm not complaining--I love this blogging stuff.
Neil:
You are truly a gentleman, a scholar, and a mensch to boot. Thank you! I may bug you in the future--lol!
Yzabel:
If a blogger is really good, I may continue to visit and comment even though my efforts are unrequited. But generally, there are so many nice bloggers out there but I tend to give up on the "deadbeats"--lol. I am so grateful that we have the e-mail notification option--otherwise it could get really hairy.
Martyn:
I would never slap you! Besides, if I had my druthers, I'd rather someone ignore my comments to their blogs and still comment to mine--lol.
Dan:
OK, I'm coming over there right now, young man!
newyorkmoments:
I will be spanking Dan, but first I have to set up a webcam.
Swifty:
Since perception is reality, you may indeed believe you're not bad. But I say, bad, bad bad Swifty! LOL...
crazylittlekitty:
When I schedule the webcam spanking, I plan to alert all the uber blogs like Boing Boing, Instapundit, et. al. It may be the first case of live internet corporal punishment--a groundbreaking event if there ever was one. And I think it will serve as a deterrent to other offenders as well. I love doing public service.
Timothy:
Call me Elvira, psycho, nutcase, wacko, whatever. Just keep coming back, as they say in AA!
Webmiztris:
Yeah, isn't that the craziest thing? When you're a brand new blogger, comments can be hard to come by. So why wouldn't you respond to the few that come your way? Wuzzup with that?
Hell yeah!
I win! (And in my winning, you all win a little too, and that warms my heart.)
Dan:
You so crazy! And you know how I love crazy.
I hope I can comment more religiously on the five people that visit my site. 8@) I have never thought that of you though. You seem to eventually get to the posts.
Just wanted to drop by and say Hi!!! I have been so busy, I havent had to time visit..dont put me on your shitty list pretty pretty please!!!
Elvira, you may have noticed that I have responded to your comments to my blog.
Bloggers who don't respond frustrate me.
Digibrill:
Commenting religiously--considering the nature of your blog, that can be taken two ways--lol. Just kidding around.
Digi:
PS--do you have a site meter installed? Then you can see who actually visits. Lots of people tend to visit sites but not comment--the rats.
Mshellonheels:
Tell me about it! I'm dancing as fast as I can, trying to visit my blogpals like you!
Ice:
Ah yes---now that's what I love to see!
Jack's Shack:
Don't you wanna just put your hands through the screen and throttle 'em? LOL...
I agree totally with that. I must admit though, I had a very difficult time replying to comments when my aunt died & people expressed their condolences. And to reply to a few, I couldn't do that. I'd feel more guilty than not replying to any at all.
I think replying to comments is basic manners.
hell, there's alot of times i just am too busy to have the time to get back to people and sometimes i feel that there isn't a response needed. it's not that i don't appreciate the comments or nothing i am just so super busy, it takes most of my morning just to visit everyones blog and post on mine! then there's actual real life to contend with and real responsibilities. UGH!!! i hate it! wish i could vegitate for a month or so and regain my sanity.
Jane:
I think it can become quite a quagmire to try to respond to all comments. So far I'm doing so, but I sometimes have existential angst about it (lol). I don't know if I'll always be doing it this way or not.
But when I see a site that never or rarely responds to any comments, I do tend to think it's kinda bad manners, but what do I know?
Jessie:
Real life? As in: I should get one? (lol).
I totally get what you're saying.
wow. individual responses also? that's impressive. can you keep that up?
some comments are rhetorical, and when you respond it's fairly meaningless, so if your'e in a time crunch and it affects getting something done, obviously you have to cut corners somewhere. but you know this already ...
to try and keep this interesting ... what's the best way for a commenter to get your attention for a bipolar date of some kind?
TAN:
Well, in addition to my other maladies, I'm an anal commenter. Wait a minute, that came out wrong. I meant anal retentive. I don't know if I can keep this up forever, or if I should try. I think I like to flaggelate myself...with guilt over the comments I owe, that is.
To have a bipolar date, I think one person has to be in a raving mania and the other party in a deep depression. This usually isn't much fun. The manic thinks s/he can fly off the top of the Empire State Building, and the depressive just wants to jump off.
In any case, I can't date because I'm already taken--by a schizophrenic.
