Shithouse rat

I'm a bipolar writer in the Naked City. I'm not playing with a full deck. I don't have all my dots on the dice. My cheese is sliding off my cracker. I don't have both oars in the water. I'm a bubble off plum. In other words, I'm crazier than a shithouse rat. These are my stories. Comments--short or long, nasty or nice--always welcome!

Autumn in New York...

I agree, thank God for them because Homeland Security would sure fuck things up if it were left to them.

I think it's great your city's leaders took the threat serious enough to alert everybody & be safe, rather than sorry.

I think when if comes to protecting a city it should be left to the people who live there and not to people who live some place safe and have nothing at stake.
We fight harder to protect our own. So why leave it to strangers.

it is good that they are taking this seriously although details have been a bit vague from what i have heard so far. it's mighty brave of them to stand up to the responsibility because if shit goes wrong they're gonna be first in line. with an administration of finger pointing idiots they're bound to take the fall whether or not they had stepped to the plate or not anyway though. go figure.

In my opinion, there is no greater sin than to murder and hurt others in the name of God! Those morons who attached the Towers and other places will live a hundred horrible life times to live for their acts of cowardice. Even though I am in Wyoming, it still effects us very much here. I shed many tears for your brave men and woman who lost there lives. If you have to endure a thousand false alarms, it is better than ignoring the wrong one. Good for you people!!!! You make us all feel good to be Americans!!!!

"I think that terrorists just need a hug"
Thats ok with me but my question is before or after you shoot them in the head?

No kidding...great post and picture. Please be careful and watch your back.

Those bastards have no soul, they will kill the first opportunity they get....I believe it is coming and have been saying that now for awhile. When I was in Philly, I was hesitant because I already knew *Ramanon* was starting....Made several comments about it then too.

I have a special gift from generations of foreseeing things....I feel it...SOMEWHERE it is going to be soon.

Well, now that the threat is passed, the fingerpointed has commenced apace. Since there is a mayoral election coming up, Bloomberg's main rival for the race is calling for more info, blah blah blah.

The fact of the matter is that the NYPD, under the direction of Kelly, is truly an awesome force to behold. They monitor terror threats worldwide on a daily basis, with a state of the art command center. There's an incredible article in New York magazine that details the NYPD's unparalleled anti-terror efforts. Though NYC is a prime target, Kelly's vigilance benefits us all.

That's the stance of the NYPD--esp. since the feds don't give our city much to work with anyway.

Yes, apparently the word is it was a hoax, though I'm not too sure about that. Better safe than sorry as far as I'm concerned. Let the back seat drivers and Monday morning quarterbacks wag their fingers all they want.

Yes, I think terrorists need the kind of hug that Michael Corleone gave to his brother Fredo at their mom's funeral--behind his back he made the sign of a gun to his henchman. If you get my drift.

Thank you for your heartfelt comment. I agree, although there have been others, unfortunately, who have also killed in the name of religion. It's unbelieveable that people can use religion as an excuse to annhilate others. But I also feel for the innocent civilians in Iraq who have no hand in this travesty and have died as well.

Thank you...yes, it's hard to feel safe and cozy nowadays. Unfortunately, there are so many ways things could go wrong, it's hard to know where to start.

Yes, it is an awesome photo. Can't say I can take any cred for it, but it does conjure up what I love about this city. The shot shows a portion of the skyline which also used to include the World Trade Center.
